On July 4th, we had to euthanize our beloved Shadow cat, who was primarily my daughter's cat (Shadow chose her first, w/ Hubby being "second."). She'd taken ill and by the 4th day she was having violent "fits," which including a lot of salivation, urination, and elimination. It was a difficult decision, but assured it was best. We don't know what was wrong with her, but the E.R. vet re-assured me about the decision in that she was beyond help and the damage she suffered was very likely permanent.
The E.R. vet center staff was very kind and extended our family consideration in our loss, allowing us time to say good-bye (after having to sedate the normally extremely affectionate kitty, because the staff witnessed one of her "fits" and had said they hadn't seen anything like it), and even doing the kindness of snipping two of Shadow's whisker for Girl to have (Girl collected our cats' 'lost' whiskers-- sometimes she'd tape them to her face and go around 'meowing').
Each of us have shed many tears, and I'm certain the tear-shedding isn't done, yet.
The pic is the last one I took before she got ill. She was comfortably laying on the new quilt made by Girl's grandma and Girl had just gotten it on their trip in June.
